The main section in a book review format should ideally consist of two main sections – the description and the summary. The Summary should be a brief summary of the book and mind you, please keep the murderer out of it. All those spoilers that you’ve been dying to blurt out should be for your eyes only and are a strict no-no while writing a book review.

One way to learn to write book reviews is to read them. They may be quite short, only a few hundred words; or they may be long articles which are literary works in themselves. Most fall in between.

I blithely assured myself it would simply be a matter of picking up Book Reviews for Dummies, or something to that effect. Au contraire. It's easier to find information on bomb-making than book review writing.And remember one very important point while writing a book review. This is your review, your personal account of your experience with the book. Just because the book lies on the list of top 100 books of the century doesn’t mean you should like it or lie about liking it. Also, because everyone is trashing the book doesn’t mean you have to jump into the bandwagon. Notice how I’ve put you in bold in the above paragraph. That should be enough to convey my thoughts!
